The Challenge

Girls in rural and impoverished communities often go without adequate menstrual supplies. This is equally true for Mayan girls in Mexico. Of the 23 million Latin American young women, 64% are affected by poverty. The impact of Covid-19 in these communities has caused a decrease in health education due to school closures and a sharp increase in teen pregnancies.

The Solution

Be Aware and Care delivers our work through a positive development model. We support local teachers to provide menstrual health education and distribute long-lasting, washable pads.

We believe in a locally led and empowered approach to address menstrual health, including improved access to menstrual products and preventative health screening and education.
